Season: fall and winter months
Habitat: woodlands, bluffs, stream banks, rocky hillsides, thickets
Use: tea from roots treats diarrhea and skin problems, bark treats minor skin problems, blisters and burns, leaves treat diarrhea, bark used in ointments for burns, scraped and skin eruptions.
Preparation: make ointment of the bark. place herbs into jar and and pour coconut oil over herbs. let sit for a few weeks then when ready to infuse, submerge the jar into boiling water. Use twice a day

COMMON NAME: Red clover

GENUS AND SPECIES NAME: Trifolium pratense

Season: June-August

Habitat: wet and dry grassland, woodland, pastures, meadows, waste lands
Use: ointments to skin for eczema and other skin rashes, indigestion, athlete's foot, constipation, cough, skin sores, burns, hot flashes 
Preparation: a poultice is made from the flower to treat the burns
Active Chemical: Quercetin

COMMON NAME: Purple Coneflower

Genus and Species Name: Echinacea purpurea

Habitat: openings in moist woods and wooded bottom lands, upland prairies, savannas, pastures, and roadsides 
Medicinal Uses: roots are used to create a tincture as a source for pain relief
Preparation: Clean roots and chop or pound (mortar and pestle) and stuff into jar. The ratio of root to alcohol or vinegar will 1:2. Add alcohol or vinegar to root in jar. Put lid on container and let sit in cool, dark place for a few (2) weeks. When ready, it can be taken straight or diluted with water if pleased.
