Arcturus

I chose this star because it is believed to be one of the first stars named by ancient observers. Its the brightest star in the constellation Boötes, otherwise known as the herdsman. Its originality comes from its title as the fourth brightest star in the sky and its large proper motion, or sideways motion across our sky. Being a part of the Arcturus Stream allows it to move at a different angle and speed than other stars within our galaxy. Although the translation is questionable, Arcturus is one of the few stars that is mentioned in the Bible, making it more memorable. The name "Arcturus" comes from the ancient Greek arktos meaning and ourus meaning guardian.
